.

Once a year, I see the night’s rainbow
An extempore in excess, its the grandest show

Stars enter the sky, walk through our home
They flash and swivel, exuberance of a treasure-laden gnome

The voices reach out, they suffuse the senses
Filled with gay abandon, all sadness it cleanses

Its the day of unity, a time of love
A shower of bliss, pure blessings from above

And its been a while, since this time shines a shade unique
for I have you by my side, there’s nothing more I seek

Though it was resplendent always, you’ve lit it ablaze
With me you’re mired, and the season flashes by in a daze

For midst the embers singes your love, you effuse me
A gaze of that vibrant smile, there’s nothing else I see

And with these blessed moments, you’ve become my rainbow
The star in my sky, you make this the grandest show

Today I look back, to times before

Just four years, seem eons more

Today I look back, gaze at the path tread

A lifetime experienced, though little said

.

I came here a kid, I go ever younger

Matured I may, but intensified my hunger

I came here a stub, I’m yet to be whole

But I’ve been shown a light, a thought for the soul

.

This place leaves a mark, an imprint sublime

It has defined anew, washed off the grime

This place leaves a tune, which will forever play

Gentle and mild, serenity amidst the fray

.

Miss you I will not, from your arms I am not wrest

You’ve infused a bond unique, we walk abreast

Miss you I will not, for I don’t feel a loss

I’ll cherish you ever more, our paths again will cross

.

Today I look forward, I leave this beautiful abode

But I take you with me, you’ve fostered this life’s ode

Today I look forward, I shoulder a grace

Thank you for enriching me, I enter a new phase

The Personal Panorama v1.0

February 15, 2011

This is an ode I had written for my Dadi (my paternal grandmother) after she passed away. In these few words I have tried to encapsulate the diversity that was my Dadi…

STAR ETERNAL

It was all so sudden, no one could foresee

You have always been there, and were always meant to be

The iron lady of this family, you were the foundation

Now we struggle to rebuild, to cope with your separation

.

Where are you now? Frankly, I don’t care

For your soul may traverse through countless lives, but it’s not here

And souls may be ever living, they may never cease

My Dadi is gone forever, she’s not with me

.

But I will not anger, for it cannot extinguish the despair

Nor will I indulge in self pity, for it cannot repair

I choose to be happy, Dadi, and celebrate your life

As you have been the doting grandmother, amazing mother, and an incomparable wife

.

And I choose to celebrate your love, and how freely you gave it

I celebrate your vibrance, with which our lives you lit

And it isn’t just your family, who will never forget

But the countless lives you touched, we’re all in your debt

.

With ordinary people, or the highest echelon

You walked the same, devoid of pride or scorn

You always adorned a panache, for which you were known

But it is due to your humanity, that many consider you their own

.

You ascend a pedestal unique, way up high

You’ve blazed a trail, and now shine in the sky

An effervescent companion, a figure maternal

You will always be, our star eternal

.

like the sunrise, amidst the dawn
bright and vivid, yet forlorn
like the ocean, in all it’s splendour
with infinite resources, a hapless vendor

like air unseen, everywhere it pads
never settled, like wearisome nomads
like rain outpouring, strong and fast
can sweep you away, but never lasts

like soil on the surface, soft outside
susceptible to fractures, gaping wide
like stars, brilliance that never rots
yet in the sky, they are but mere dots

like the forest, mankind’s cradle
now outgrown, a soon to be fable
like lightning, ever awe-inspiring
swift in fury, destruction siring

like the atoms, it can never rest
it shouldnt be ceased, or it is wrest
like life, it can never dissolve
forever changing, forever evolves

Nothing

April 30, 2010

.

Nothing! A word that’s, according to the Oxford dictionary, firstly described as “not anything”. How does one write something about nothing? Well, the first happy thought that comes to my mind, is the nothingness that exfoliates in love. Now isnt that a strange comment! After all, is love not the abundance of certain mysterious feelings, an amalgamation of varied emotions? In general, is love not everything?

‘Nothing’ is when silence is no longer awkard. When two entities combine to form one harmonious being, form their own universe where no external factor is requisite for love. ‘Nothing’ is that rare wanted moment when just the company of a lover, devoid of any physical contact or communication, is enough to lift you up to cloud number nine. That feeling of getting lost, in the endless abyss of her eyes, where no thoughts permeate and the world becomes her and she, your world. ‘Nothing’ is when a rose, a surprise, an elaborate effort is no longer necessary to keep her addicted.

Ronan Keating aptly described it when he sang, “You say it best, when you say nothing at all”. For the helpless romantic, the eternal lover, this nothing is everything.

.

What we had, what we once shared
Seldom was it bad, how we once cared

I thought I knew you, you were mine forever
My fellow hiker, in this strange endeavor

And a future we saw, through the eyes of one
Blazing a path to glory, brighter than the sun

A boundless dream, once bonded our tryst
Alas, a meandering stream, that could never exist

I tried to tame the flow, before it went awry
But while I was ebbing away, you just stood by

Through you I saw reality, that how the world is flat
As you threw me off the edge, everything had been an act

And I knew I was falling, through some endless abyss
With nothing to stop this plummet, to give me bliss

I was a walking dead, active but in a coma
Darkness in the sunlight, a fume in the aroma

And when I was about to give up, no hope to subsist
She came along, clearing the obscuring mist

She was a knight, in the robes of a maiden
An archangel, to confront your hated Satan

With her I have returned, life once more is vivid
Sadness a faint memory, no causes to be livid

The wound has healed, filled once more with love
I see you no more, with her I fly way above

walk-on-the-way-of-time

.

Rain falls down, strong & hard

Fierce and piercing, like thin deadly shards

It keeps hitting at me, with no relent

A continuous punishment, but my will’s not bent

I know my goal, rain can’t keep me down

With a smile on my face, I walk on

This road is endless, I grow weary

I’ve been all alone, it gets scary

The night mother embraces me, in her cold arms

Nothing can be heard, just my prayer & psalms

But I know my goal, in this desperation I’ll never drown

With a song in my heart, I walk on

It’s been too long, of the hours I’ve lost count

I tread a slow pace, no fine steed to mount

My legs start giving in, the body begins to revolt

How long can I last, when every step is a jolt

But I know my goal, soon I’ll be greeted by dawn

Armed with a steady resolve, I walk on

And then at last, the journey comes to an end

I’ve attained a new vision, no one else can lend

It’s time to relax, to be at peace

But in the distant horizon, a new journey does tease

Now I know another goal, peace & rest is long gone

I fervour for adventure anew, I walk on…

This ode is to great kings, to legendary men,

Whose tales make classics of paper and pen

They ruled the worlds, they wore bejeweled crowns

But what goes up must come down

With money aplenty, their styles the future trend

But what begins must come to an end

With countless armies, destruction they wrought

But alas, immortality couldn’t be sought

And with a golden reign, with hands that were stiff,

They reached the peak but fell of the cliff

And while they were succeeded, by kith & kin

The mass’s loyalty no one could win

What followed was anarchy, massive unrest,

A hollowed rule, revolts abreast

The king had passed, a lineage struck down

A new man, the victor, adorned the crown

The cycle restarts, a consant ending, without fail

With his ascension, begins another similar tale

You were born in a green haven,

You live a life shameless and brazen.

You live to abuse, to no end,

An existence of scathing with no amend.

But what if future ain’t the same as the one you dwell?

What if you welcome yourself to your own personal hell?

What if you’re past was a cruel irony to when you’ll be dead?

My friends, I welcome you to Generation Z.

You enter an age when the moon meets the sun,

An epic event, where you can’t hide nor run.

Your not Generation X, nor Gen Y.

Yet you do reminisce those days, and feel naught but wry.

You gawk at the impending darkness, it will render most blind.

All they will hope is to somehow live in rewind.

But before all is said and done, there will be incessant bloodshed.

Empires will be razed, rivers will flow red.

But maybe you are the one, the ray of hope

No mighty king, no just pope.

Maybe you will obliterate, the elements that derange

This world may never be an utopia, but maybe you will bring change…

Aurora

What is this thing called life?

A constant factor through the eons

One so vibrant, like boundless beacons

Devoid of it, the universe would be amiss

After all, without it, nothing is

In its depths, complexities are rife

What is this thing called life?

What is this concept of love?

It can’t be defined by any formulae

It can cloud your future or show you the way

An emotion that could make anyone curious

So obvious, yet so spurious

A feeling as pure as a white dove

What is this concept of love?

Why do we believe in god?

The being known as the almighty

One who’s worshipped through countless deities

Someone who has never been heard, nor seen

Yet it is assumed that he has always been

Real or fake, his beleifs are indefinately broad

Why do we believe in god?

Answers to these

I doubt we’ll ever know

So must we ask?

The why and the how

Or should we take it with ease

And enjoy the show

Perform our task

And take our bow
